Community & Voluntary Research
"Market Dynamics innovative approach enabled us to get exactly the information we needed to inform our planning process"

Gretta Murphy
Kilkenny County Childcare Committee

Market Dynamics has established a strong presence in the Community and Voluntary sector having completed projects for a number of clients in the South East of Ireland.

Strategic Planning
The development of strategic plans involves a combination of desk research (analysing existing information) and consultations with stakeholders. Market Dynamics’ experience of in-depth interviewing, focus group moderation, analysis and report writing skills mean that we are ideally placed to conduct such projects.

Strategic Reviews and Evaluations
All organisations in the community and voluntary sector need to undertake regular evaluations of their work. A vital part of this process is a review of achievements against plan and consultations with staff and key stakeholders. Market Dynamics has an excellent track record of providing clear and concise reports which make demonstrable recommendations on how organisations can re-focus their resources.

Mapping Exercises
Mapping exercises are undertaken to quantify the level of service provision in a particular geographic area. Market Dynamics has completed a number of projects of this kind mapping services to electoral divisions and projecting ongoing demand using demographic information including CSO data and County Development Plans. These mapping exercises enable organisations to target areas of priority for increased service provision.

Surveys
Surveys can be used in many different ways to obtain information to inform the work of community and voluntary organisations, for example, to establish what level of professional qualifications are held by a specific group, e.g. childcare workers. This information allows the client organisation to set education and training targets and to allocate resources accordingly. Market Dynamics has undertaken a number of projects of this nature which have provided the client organisations with a significant aid to planning.

CASE STUDY - CDCD Network/KCAN
CDCD Network and KCAN are partnership companies whose role is the delivery of the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme (LDSIP) in parts of North East Kilkenny and Kilkenny City respectively.  As part of the LDSIP Enlargement Project in 2008 they commissioned Market Dynamics to conduct a study of the needs of socially excluded men.  The work involved consultations with a range of organisations working with men in both urban and rural areas, as well as with socially excluded men themselves.  The study report demonstrated that many men suffer from health and educational disadvantage in particular and that changes in employment trends are resulting in a reduction in the number of opportunities in traditional sectors.  Areas of particular disadvantage within the county were identified and recommendations made on the best way to address these challenges. CASE STUDY - Kilkenny County Childcare Committee
Kilkenny County Childcare Committee is responsible for providing assistance to childcare providers across the county. Having just completed an audit of these organisations it wanted to survey them to obtain information on a range of issues including employment levels, educational qualifications, pay and conditions and awareness of support organisations.

Market Dynamics was commissioned to conduct the survey. As a newly compiled list of childcare organisations was in existence, and in order to maximise the level of co-operation with the survey, questionnaires were delivered to each childcare facility in the county. As a consequence, over 80% of all childcare staff in the county completed a questionnaire. The resulting findings provided a comprehensive and extremely robust view of the current state of play within the childcare industry in the county.
