Carlow Equal Labour Force Survey
The Carlow Equal programme is an initiative aimed at promoting equality of opportunity for older workers. In order to assess what approach they needed to take to achieve this objective the Equal programme decided it was necessary to conduct a survey of Carlow-based employers to assess current practices in employment of older workers and to establish what requirements would be in the future.

Market Dynamics won the tender to conduct the survey and to produce a report of the findings. We worked closely with the Carlow Equal partners to formulate a questionnaire and a total of 250 telephone interviews were conducted with a range of employers across the county.

As well as producing a full report, Market Dynamics presented the findings to the partners in the Carlow Equal programme and, on a separate occasion, to a well-attended public event announcing the Equal programme at which copies of the final report were distributed.

Kilkenny County Childcare Committee
Kilkenny County Childcare Committee is responsible for providing assistance to childcare organisations across the county. Having just completed an audit of these organisations it wanted to survey them to obtain information on a range of issues including employment levels, educational qualifications, pay and conditions and awareness of support organisations.

Market Dynamics was commissioned to conduct the survey. As a newly compiled list of childcare organisations was in existence, and in order to maximise the level of co-operation with the survey, questionnaires were delivered to each childcare facility in the county. As a consequence, over 80% of all childcare staff in the county completed a questionnaire. The resulting findings provided a comprehensive and extremely robust view of the current state of play within the childcare industry in the county.

Carlow Kilkenny Skillnet
Carlow Chamber of Commerce Skillnet had a requirement to conduct a review of training needs in the county so that it could submit an authoritative request for funding to a national authority.

Market Dynamics was commissioned to conduct a survey of businesses in the county to assess their training requirements.

The submission had to be made within a very short time-scale and the survey needed to be completed as quickly as possible. Market Dynamics completed the survey of 250 organisations in five weeks, which enabled the Chamber to conduct its analysis of the findings and make its submission in good time.

Kilkenny Arts Festival
Market Dynamics was commissioned by Kilkenny Arts Festival to undertake a survey of attendees at the festival in 2007 and again in 2008.  The research was conducted on the street at various locations in the city. Respondents were asked their views of the events they attended, how they found out about the festival and to provide satisfaction ratings. Input on the amount spent by visitors also helped to gain a better understanding of the value of the festival to the city of Kilkenny.  The surveys have revealed the international dimension of the Festival audience, the great affinity people have for the Festival and the economic value that Festival-goers have for Kilkenny.

CDCD Network
CDCD Network and KCAN are partnership companies whose role is the delivery of the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme (LDSIP) in parts of North East Kilkenny and Kilkenny City respectively.  As part of the LDSIP Enlargement Project in 2008 they commissioned Market Dynamics to conduct a study of the needs of socially excluded men.  The work involved consultations with a range of organizations working with men in both urban and rural areas as well as with socially excluded men themselves.  The study report demonstrated that many men suffer from health and educational disadvantage in particular and that changes in employment trends are resulting in a reduction in the number of opportunities in traditional sectors.  Areas of particular disadvantage within the county were identified and recommendations made on the best way to address these challenges.

OurBigDay.ie
OurBigDay.ie is a Wedding Website provider which, prior to market entry wanted to understand its revenue generating potential, price-points and how to effectively market its services.

Market Dynamics was commissioned by OurBigDay.ie to design both a questionnaire and email invitation to complete the questionnaire. Over 1,000 people who were either engaged or recently married completed the survey. The data was cleaned, analysed and a short report produced outlining recommendations including an analysis of potential price-points, target markets and a profile of the key decision-makers.  The low-cost, online, methodology provided a wealth of detailed feedback which would simply not have been possible using more traditional research methods, given the budget available.

Clonmel Chamber of Commerce
Clonmel Chamber of Commerce considered that, despite having high levels of employment, the town had not taken full advantage of recent prosperity by comparison with other towns of a similar size.  Supported by Clonmel Credit Union and Boston Scientific, it commissioned Market Dynamics to investigate and  identify the opportunities for investment in Clonmel.  Market Dynamics conducted focus groups with business people and representatives of the local authorities and through this process a number of clear opportunities were identified where Clonmel could make improvements for the benefit of businesses in the town

Political Opinion Poll
During the 2007 election campaign Market Dynamics was commissioned to conduct a number of opinion polls in the Carlow/Kilkenny, Cork East and Waterford constituencies. For each poll 400 people were interviewed using a facsimile ballot paper. The survey was then conducted with a representative sample of potential voters at multiple sites across the constituency. The findings were compiled in a short report and delivered to the client who was able to then review each individual candidates likelihood of success based on 1st, 2nd and 3rd preference allocations as well as likelihood to vote.

KMart Properties
KMart Properties is the development company behind Citymart, a 13.5 acre mixed-use development in Barrack Street, Kilkenny that will bring a vibrant new dimension to the city and establish its position as the leading retail destination within the South-East region.

In order to understand consumer demand for additional retail in the city and also to understand the impact that retail development in neighbouring towns and cities has had on Kilkenny, KMart commissioned an "on-street" survey of shoppers in the city. This survey set out to obtain their views of the city as a shopping destination and to compare it to neighbouring towns and cities.

Market Dynamics, working to a tight timescale, prepared a questionnaire and completed a survey of 300 respondents within a week of being commissioned to do so. The findings were provided to the client in the form of a written report and did, in fact, support the premise that there is strong demand for additional retail facilities in Kilkenny and that the city's retail offering has been negatively impacted by the improvements in neighbouring towns and cities.

Employee Survey
As part of its human resources programme, a large manufacturing organisation commissioned Market Dynamics to conduct an employee survey to measure satisfaction levels among staff with their working environment, management team and remuneration.

Market Dynamics conducted a confidential self-completion survey which all employees were asked to complete.  The research revealed some confusion about a recently introduced remuneration package. The client was able to report back to the staff on the research findings and address the issues raised.

Market Opportunity for Facilities Management
A large organisation in the services sector approached Market Dynamics to conduct a market opportunity study to assess the potential for it to enter the facilities management market in the South East of Ireland.  In-depth interviews were set up and conducted with a number of large organisations who were identified as potential targets for such services and a report with conclusions and recommendations was delivered.  The research findings included a quantification of potential revenue, cost of market entry and the level of market maturity enabling the client to make an informed decision on how to proceed.
